Module 8: Character Makeup

This module is part of the CUA51020 – Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialist Makeup Services) at IMUA and focuses on the design and application of character makeup. In this module, you will explore how makeup is used to transform performers into distinct characters, developing creative concepts that support narrative, performance, and visual style.

A key focus of this module is learning how to interpret and respond to a design brief. You will develop skills in analysing briefs, generating concepts, and translating ideas into practical makeup designs that meet creative and production requirements.

You will apply these skills through hands-on character transformations, using products such as latex bald caps and crepe hair to recreate iconic designs, including characters such as Fagin from Oliver Twist. This module builds on your existing skills in design, application, and transformation, preparing you for more advanced character and special effects work.
