Copper eyes and red lip
This client had incredible bright blue eyes so I used brick and copper tones on her eyes to enhance and further draw out that blue. The skin was full coverage and bronzed with a peach blush to go with our colour scheme. We finished with a bright red lip to draw extra attention to the blue in the eyes as the main feature
Winged liner and full coverage skin
Bronzer was applied lightly to the eye before the defined black wing to create a sharp and defined shape to the eye. False lashes were applied to add volume. Skin is full coverage and bronzed. We completed the look with a soft pink glossy lip to maintain focus on the eyes
Clean Skin for a photoshoot
This makeup on Orla was for a promotional photo shoot for New Dimensions Activewear. We decided to use a full coverage foundation to make the skin look very clean and simple to appear best on camera. We kept bronzer and blush very minimal while still allowing colour on the face. I lightly defined the eyebrows and added a small amount of mascara to the lashes
Soft smokey eyes and medium coverage base
We applied a medium coverage foundation to allow her gorgeous natural freckles to peak through the makeup while still keeping the complexion even. I applied a soft brown all over the lid and deepened the outer corner slightly with a dark brown. We applied a stronger red toned lip to compliment her blue eyes and draw attention to her lip shape.
Smokey winged eyes and glowy skin
Warm brown tones on the eyes with a winged liquid liner to elongate and lift the eyes. I used a full coverage foundation over a glowy primer to create this dewy skin look. Finished with some individual false lashes on the outer corner of the eye and a warm nude lip.
Red lip on fair skin for imirage magazine
We kept the makeup on the skin very minimal only applying some under eye and blemish concealer. Blush and bronzer was applied and some very soft brown makeup on the eyes. We chose a matte red lip to finish the look and draw attention to the face. |Photographer: Gerard Caffrey |Hair: David Boardman |Model: Kyra Murphy |Designer: Claire Garvey
Short film continuity shot
Finnuala Gillen as Desdemona on the set of “Thin Walls” directed by Ethan Dodd. This look is for a scene in which the character was meant to have a romantic appearance after a date. I decided to keep the makeup very minimal opting for only a light glow on the skin and some blemish concealing. I applied a small amount of mascara to the lashes and a brown lip liner and berry gloss on the lips.
Short film continuity shot
Finnuala Gillen as Desdemona on the set of “Thin Walls” directed by Ethan Dodd. This makeup look was for the “big reveal” shot in the final scene of the short film and the first time the character has heavy makeup on. I applied a smokey brown eyeshadow to the lids and tightlined her waterline with black eyeliner to draw focus to her eyes and make them look visibly different from previous scenes. We went for a bold red lip to compliment the mostly black “night out” outfit that the character was wearing.
Glowy skin and fox eyeshadow
This eyeshadow look was created by placing a tape stencil on the corner of the eye while the eyeshadow is applied and then removing it before applying skin products. Progressively darker shades of brown eyeshadow were applied to the eye followed by multiple shades of gold to create dimension on the eye.
Futuristic Glamour
This is an eyes closed shot of the makeup look. I used one of the liquid glitter shades that I used on the cheeks also on her eyelids. A thick black liner was added to the eye to frame. We opted not to add a false lash for this particular look. Her eyebrows were filled in with a small amount of brow powder just to add some dimension to them without drawing focus away from the rest of the elements of the look. As the model has a naturally very defined facial structure I felt it wasn’t necessary for the brows to appear very heavy.
Futuristic Glamour
This is a look I did on a model for an editorial style photo shoot. The photographer wanted an elegant evening look with elements of modernism. So I did a classic brown and gold eyeshadow and added extra black to deepen the eyes further so as not to lose focus on the eyes in the shoot. I swept some gold liquid glitter across the temples and added two thin black lines to the lip. The lipstick is a classic red matte which compliments the models skin tone and enhances her eye colour. We added a generous amount of rouge to her cheeks to compliment the lips and the nature themed background of these photos.
Deep purple smokey eyes
Eyes closed shot of the eyeshadow. A purple shimmer was applied in the middle of the lid to apply focus to the centre of the eyes. The eyeshadow was winged out and a black eyeliner was applied all the way from the inner corner and out to a wing. Black pencil liner was applied on the waterline and a dramatic false lash.
Deep purple smokey eyes
Full coverage foundation was applied over a glowy primer base to achieve a flawless and dewy complexion. The eyeshadow is very smoked out and progressively darker shades of purple were added to create the depth shown in the image. A neutral nude lipstick and gloss were applied to the lips.
Bronze and Gold Party Makeup
This client supplied an image of the eye look they wanted which was recreated on her eyes to suit her eye shape. We added a thin winged liner and curled her lashes before applying mascara and false lashes. We finished the eye look with some highlighter on her inner corners.
Rainbow eyeshadow for pride (eyes closed)
We applied a false lash to the eyes to add volume to the lashes and extra shape and definition to the eyes look. As this model has hooded eyelids we applied the colour high up on her lids with small brushes. A very thin line of black liner was applied to the lash line to allow the false lashes to blend seamlessly into the real lashes.
Purple smokey wings
We went with a purple eyeshadow look to compliment the models hazel eye colour. I blended the eyeshadow into a wing shape to lift the face. We went with a peachy blush to compliment the eye makeup and a pink-nude lip colour. Finished the look with a pair of fluffy false lashes and a glowy highlighter.
Clean skin, light eyeshadow
Eyes closed shot of this look. We kept the eyeshadow minimal. Focusing the small amount of brown shadow mainly on the outer corner and highlighting with a pink shimmer in the centre of the lid and a champagne shimmer on the inner lid. I added a very small amount of darker brown on the lash line to add definition but not to age the eyes of the young model.
Clean Skin and Glossy Lip
As this model is younger with naturally clear skin, we decided to do a clean skin with a subtle glow and a peachy cheek. The eyes have a cool brown shade with a pink shimmer to bring out the blue in the eyes. Finished the look with a simple clear gloss to focus on the natural colour of the lips.
I have been practicing makeup since 2016 when I was 12 years old and completely fell in love with it. I completed my diploma course in 2021 at 17 years old and worked occasionally as a freelance makeup artist.
In November of 2022 I started working in Sculpted by Aimee on Grafton street where I completed countless makeovers and makeup lessons daily. I gained crucial experience in this job working on every skin type, skin tone and texture there is. I learned on the job about working with any possible client and creating the look to suit them. As of September 2023 I am working as a beauty advisor for Clarins and Lancome, I have gained expansive knowledge of makeup and skincare through this roll which has helped me to understand my clients needs further.
Makeup has always been the path for me and I have fallen in love with it more and more every day that I have worked at it.
I love looking at a clients face and communicating with them to best figure out how to make the perfect makeup look that fits them and their features. I want to make every client feel comfortable in the makeup they are wearing whether that be heavy makeup or barely noticeable at all. I believe in using makeup to enhance the facial features and highlight what you love about your own face. Makeup is a very individual experience and I very much believe in not copy and pasting the same makeup look onto everyone. I like to get to know my client or my model and work with them to create the perfect look for them so they leave my makeup chair feeling confident and happy.
I have experience working on fashion and editorial photo shoots as well as being the hair and makeup designer on a student short film, which was an incredible experience.
I am available for bookings, freelance work and am always open to hearing about creative projects in need of a makeup artist. I’m based in North Dublin and can travel.
