This module is part of the CUA51020 – Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialist Makeup Services) at IMUA and builds on the foundational knowledge established in Module 1. In this module, you will develop a deeper understanding of the diversity of human facial features and learn how to analyse them professionally. You will explore different face shapes and proportions, and how makeup can be used strategically to enhance balance, structure, and symmetry through techniques such as contouring and highlighting.
The module also focuses on the analysis of individual features, including eyes, eyebrows, and lips. You will learn how to identify different shapes, recognise common variations, and apply corrective and enhancing techniques suited to each feature. This knowledge enables you to adapt makeup application to suit a wide range of clients, facial structures, and aesthetic requirements.
By the end of Module 2, you will be able to assess facial features with confidence and apply makeup techniques that enhance natural characteristics while addressing proportion and balance. These skills form a critical foundation for creating refined, client-appropriate makeup looks and support professional practice across all areas of the makeup industry.
Understanding face, eye, brow, and lip shapes is essential for tailoring makeup to each individual. By mastering corrective and enhancing techniques, you’ll be able to bring out the best in your clients’ natural features.
